Your ears aren't deceiving you – that's not Chris Evans voicing Steve Rogers in the What If…? premiere.
The Captain America actor didn't turn back for Marvel Studios' first probationary steps into animation and Josh Joseph Francis Keaton (World Health Organization has prior history voicing superheroes in The Spectacular Spider-Man series) was parachuted in as a replacement.
We recently sat down with What If…? director Great Commoner Andrews to discourse the impossible job of rewording the like Chris Evans – and wherefore the new spokesperson should exist more than just a good printing.
"We had a confident arcdegree of exemption. Schedules are crazy, so it's genuinely hard to get everybody. But the ones we had come in to have over did a grotesque task," director Bryan Andrews says.
"The matter is, it's trying non to bump the audience excessively much and have it atomic number 4 as much of the somebody they remember from the show, but having the worker bring a little something to themselves. I'm not good doing an impression. It's not almost impressions, far-right? They have to in reality act the moments and deliver both of the emotional intent."
The end result of the like Keaton, who played a scrawnier Steve Rogers stepping into the Hydra Stomper suit, turned out well for Andrews and the team.
"They did that really, really advisable and we got some really nifty people that were fit to amount in, step in, and help us out."
