How To Clean A Henry Lever Action Rifle

How oft do y'all make clean your Henry 45-lxx Gov when shooting Cowboy Action 300 gr factory ammo? I cleaned my all weather Henry before my last trip to the shooting range (terminal Sunday) and I popped about 50 rounds? I would capeesh an input from long time lever action shooters who used their rifles for years without e'er developing whatsoever issues. I purchased my Henry five months ago then far I put near 400 rounds through (eight range trips 10 50 rounds) and I kept cleaning it later on every trip to a shooting range. So far, the rifle is performing groovy, it recycles super smoothly and I want to keep information technology that way for the rest of my life. However, I have to admit that I exercise not savour cleaning it and I am thinking of cleaning it from at present on every ~100 rounds (2 range trips).

it wont injure it to make clean information technology every other trip. Levers are pretty elementary designs, I dont know if 4570s a muddied round or something but mines never gummed upward or malfunctioned I oftentimes just clean the barrel and phone call it good.

LOL....you don't want to know when I last cleaned my Marlin 1894 .38/.357 mag. (used in SASS). For that matter.....don't even enquire about any of my other SASS firearms.

That is proficient to know. I think every 100 rounds might exist more than enough for my Henry. I shoot but factory clean ammo, and afterward 50 rounds butt, receiver and other trigger parts do not look much muddied.

Just tore down my brand new Henry Large Boy Ten tonight to make clean it thoroughly after almost 75 rounds of reloads using both cast and jacketed ammo. Was surprised at how dirty it was. It'due south at present nice and clean and has a light glaze of Breakfree CLP everywhere needed.

I make clean my firearms afterwards every use.
Employ proper cleaning methods and accept your time.

To do otherwise , just goes against what I was taught and accept done.

You're supposed to clean a Henry?

Our little 22 sees a box or two every time we accept it out. I think I last cleaned it a couple of years ago

I'll wipe it down, but I oasis't pulled the side plates or run a rod down the bore for quite a while. Guess I should show it some love.
